U U Need a Ride

We are making an ongoing effort to improve our accessibility and reduce our environmental impact. To facilitate carpooling we are presently pursuing three approaches:

The map, which was generously sponsored by Vicky's family, was introduced in September, 2009. Through it members and friends of the church can find out who else in our congregation lives in their neighbourhood. It even has photographs to help you identify your fellow congregants! Participation in the map is stictly voluntary.

Online ride-matching with Jack Bell Ride-Share

NSUC page at Jack Bell Ride-Share

We are registered with Jack Bell Ride-Share, a free ride-matching service supported by TransLink and BC Transit. To see a YouTube video describing the service please click on the window below.

The steps involved in using the site are the following:

1. READ OUR DISCLAIMER

2. Sign up at http://nsuc.ride-share.com/.

When you first visit the ride-share.com website, you will have to click on the "Sign Up" button.

You will then have to examine their license agreement to your satisfaction, and either accept or decline. Accepting these terms is a requirement to use the service. These buttons are at the bottom of the license page.

ride-share.com requires information about you in order to build your profile. The first detail is the email address that will be your connection to the system. Please make sure that this is an email account you check regularly.

The second required detail is the password you wish to use to access ride-share.com. You will have to enter the password in both of the fields - this is to keep a typo from locking you out.

Our church's location on Mathers Avenue is already in the system. You can leave this as it is.

ride-share.com emails simple survey questions to users who indicate that they can be contacted. Participation is strictly voluntary.

All other details are optional. The fields for phone numbers are for those using the ride-share.com "Vanpool" service - something the church is not looking into at this time. The "Match other groups" buttons let you choose between participating in the larger Jack Bell Ride-Share pool or limiting your ride-sharing to other NSUC ride-sharers.

Press.

You will be notified that you have been sent a confirmation email. If you check your email, you should find a message from Jack Bell Ride-Share in your inbox.

Click on the link indicated in the email. This takes you to the "Add Trip" page and completes your registration with Jack Bell Ride-Share.

3. Add a route to your profile.

If you are undertaking this immediately after completing step 1, you should be at the ride-share.com "Add Trip" page. If not, you need to access your account: type http://nsuc.ride-share.com into your web browser's address bar. You will find yourself back at the NSUC page at Jack Bell Ride-Share. Enter your email address and ride-share password into the fields in the upper-right corner of the page.

With no routes specified, your options are limited to adding a trip and adjusting your profile.

The Ride-Share site has a description of the route-building process at http://nsuc.ride-share.com/en/my/howitworks.php.
