Our Vibrant Church Community - In a Nutshell
Our Mission: to provide an inclusive, caring community whose values and programs inspire and celebrate lifelong spiritual inquiry and growth, and whose actions further justice, peace, and environmental sustainability.
We love to learn, play and sing…
North Shore Unitarian Church (NSUC) is a growing congregation of about 300 adults, 90 children and 35 youth. We offer a full range of programs including Sunday services, religious education for all ages, and a full music program. We explore important life questions, and we have a lot of fun and fellowship along the way!
Our Sunday Services…
Our services are held on Sundays at 10:30 am. A social hour follows. We have Religious Education classes for children (3-12), youth (13-18), and free childcare for those under 3. All are welcome.
We balance reason and belief…
Unitarian Universalist (UU) religious perspectives balance reason and belief, intellect and intuition. We are committed to spiritual and ethical values and a celebration of life. We seek to empower our members to live their values with integrity, to work for justice and peace in the world, and to respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
We’re non-creedal…
We are a non-creedal church. We do not require allegiance to any religious dogma for membership. We promote respectful tolerance and religious freedom.
It is our sense that the universe is of such scope—magnificent, vast and mysterious—that no one creed or dogma can encapsulate its entirety. We stand in wonder and awe before the beauty of our universe, hoping to do justice to this gift of life by learning to think and act well, to work for social justice, and to share with one another the insights and truths of our hearts.
We’re not all the same…
We are an intentionally diverse religious community, embracing theists, humanists, agnostics, Buddhists, pagans, persons of many different spiritual paths and traditions, all sharing a desire to worship, learn, serve and celebrate together. We are an inclusive congregation. We are a Welcoming Congregation, and welcome all who share our philosophy regardless of age, race, economics or sexual orientation.
We’re international in scope…
Unitarian Universalism is an established international faith tradition. Nationally, we are affiliated with the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC), and internationally with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA).
