NSUC Preliminary Space Estimate
Based on the ideas and data developed in the Focus Groups and interviews with NSUC staff, the Program Facilities Group put together a tentative “Preliminary Space Estimate” for a new church. The purpose of doing this was to try to translate these ideas and data into something more tangible, to help focus discussion and prioritize which elements would be key to the life and operation of our new church.
It should be recognized that this Preliminary Space Estimate reflected a “Wish List Church” – that is, the size and type of spaces we would have if we could get basically everything on our wish list. No attempt was made to cost it out -- to estimate what it might cost to build the amount and types of space shown on the Estimate. Far more detail would be needed to make that a productive exercise.
Thus the resulting document was only a rough, first draft of what our future space needs might look like, and envisioned a building of 18,000 net sq ft in size. We expected and would want it to be modified, reconsidered and refined extensively as we move forward in the planning, designing and cost estimating process.
